The Kindergarten Department of JSS PS is rated ‘Outstanding’ in Care and Support and Personal Social and Emotional Development by the KHDA. Our goal is to provide a safe and caring environment, where children can gain a positive approach towards the school and learning. Our creatively designed ‘JSS PS Kindergarten Curriculum’ meets the CBSE requirements and is based on the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCFF) guidelines and integrates the best practices of other International Curriculum Standards developing a balance in knowledge, skills and understanding. The UAE National priorities are fully integrated in the curriculum to promote cultural values, innovation and challenge. Exposing children to Arabic language boosts brain development and opens doors to new cultures and friendships.
‘Habits of Mind’ develops positive learning habits in children. Children begin to experience the joy of learning at this young age and hence we provide a strong academic foundation to our Kindergarteners helping them to explore their interests and enhance their social, emotional, physical, and aesthetic skills through our well-planned Skill Boost Club and Kinderclub (After School Activity). A team of dedicated teachers with a shared belief in outstanding schooling are a part of the JSS PS family to enrich the experience of our little learners and promote their Well-being.

Other Learning Opportunities
In addition to academic learning, regular activities like Show and Tell, Story Time, Funmatics, Class Assemblies, Music and Dance sessions and various celebrations like Haq Al Laila, International Dot Day, World Peace Day, UAE National Day add to the rich range of opportunities to our children
Classroom experiences are further enhanced through the use of technology like KUBO Coding, field trips, and experiential learning. Extra-curricular activities like Sports Day, Concert, and Golden Dunes Gala are organized for the whole family to cater to the well-being of our children and parent community. Children get an opportunity to develop life skills through participation in the ‘Junior Duke Award’ and hone their talent through the ‘Trinity College of London’ for Drama.
Our Approach in Teaching
A flexible, multilevel, play and inquiry-based approach is practiced in Kindergarten to develop cognitive, linguistic, and socio-emotional skills. Children are exposed to age-appropriate, physical, educational, and social activities through play-based methods for holistic development. Thematic Units planned throughout the year are directly linked to Sustainable Development Goals to develop our children into mindful global citizens. Making thinking visible is the prime focus of our teaching and learning. The use of technology enhances the learning experience of children. This Multi-faceted learning approach helps develop a strong foundation for our kindergarteners and makes them future-ready by equipping them with 21st-century skills


Our Assessment Pattern
In Kindergarten, assessment plays an integral part in a child’s learning. It helps the teachers to measure progress and plan activities according to the needs of the children.
Following the continuous assessment pattern, the children are assessed in all six Domains of learning including Positive Learning Habits and the progress is shared with the parents through regular parent-teacher meetings. Teachers observe the children regularly and assess them through various assessment tools like pre-cap assessment, anecdotal remarks, and work samples.
