Primary Curriculum

Primary school offers a comprehensive and flexible curriculum that promotes the active involvement of children in a learning process which is not only curricular, but is imaginative and stimulating to their overall growth. We support our students to flourish into confident, self-assured learners who are resilient, can understand and manage their feelings, and adapt their behaviour to bring out their best self in day-to-day interactions.

The integration of various domains of learning provides ample opportunities for children to make connections between their experiences. The curriculum is based on age specific grade level expectations that need to be attained by the end of the grade, and is designed by keeping in mind, the educational trends. The assessment pattern has been adapted successfully to assess necessary range and balance.

Our staff thrive on the challenge of creating the highest standards of learning and children engage willingly, eager to learn more and reciprocating the effort in a wholesome sense of progress for all to see.

We understand the importance of excellent home/school partnerships and for this very reason, we actively encourage strong parental input regarding their child’s education. We operate an open-door policy and are open to suggestions and new ideas.

It is our view that education is the key to a successful future. As worldwide opportunities become more accessible in terms of careers, the children of today are now competing internationally. It is therefore crucial that our children are fully equipped to compete with students across the world. With this in mind, we have high expectations, and as a result; strive to achieve academic and cocurricular excellence and create an environment where young minds lay strong roots, that will allow them to grow, in time; into capable and compassionate adults.

The overall vision is to enable children to meet, with self-confidence and assurance; the demands of life, both for the now and for their futures.

In the lower primary (Grade 1and Grade 2) a thematic approach is adopted to foster learning across the curriculum, placing an emphasis on multiple skill development. The approach combines different learning techniques to ensure that our children can get the most from their engaging educational experience. Students involve and a strong partnership between the home and school is established.

In the upper primary (Grades 3 to 5), our diverse curriculum opens the door to a more structured phase of their schooling, as young students build the correct foundations for a successful future. Our drive is to encourage children to be inquisitive, initiate and take responsibility. This will help them cultivate an independent understanding of academic and co-curricular activities that they will expand on in higher grades.

Our Primary Virtual School

We believe that many elements blend together to make up a successful virtual school experience. The balance of the learning day will differ from the pattern of physical schooling, but depending on the age and stage of your child, a blended approach ensures that maximum learning is achieved through the delivery of holistic education. This means education goes beyond the traditional model and the child is fully nurtured. All areas of the curriculum are covered from maths to music, history to art; along with other central aspects such as school assemblies and sports.

Every virtual primary school day at JSSPS is an engaging one that brings to life every aspect of your child’s curriculum with plenty of opportunities to interact with their teachers and classmates.

Our virtual school will inspire your child with innovative lessons, unique learning opportunities and high-quality teaching as part of our blended learning approach.

The Experience has two key aspects:

  • Connected time where students can learn from their teachers ‘live’ using our safe and secure online platform.
  • Guided time where pupils learn independently through tailored tasks set by their teacher.

Our virtual platform strikes a balance between online and offline learning time so that your child can make the most out of personalised primary learning from home.

Our students’ wellbeing is always at the heart of everything we do. We pay close attention to their social, emotional, creative, physical and cultural needs, ensuring their holistic growth and needs are duly met.

By building on the foundation and principles of safe, holistic and secure learning, our virtual school for primary students places a continued focus on cognitive development and prepares students for the next steps in their education.
